Ten Travel Tips

Over my many years of flying I have picked up a few tips and tricks that will make your flying experience more pleasurable. Whether it’s Southwest or American, as long as it’s not Spirit, these tips will help no matter what!

  1. Try not to fly Spirit for longer trips. Yes, the prices are great but trust me when I say you will pay for it in the end. If you haven’t heard any horror stories I will spare you the time. You will be charged for every bag, they are known for cancellation and delays, terrible customer service, and the list goes on and on.
  2. Takeoff and landing were always really hard for me. The pressure always got to me in the worst ways. So, chewing gum and using any type of ear plugs will help alleviate the pain.
  3. Bring extra socks and underwear. I personally always bring 5 extra of each. You never know when emergencies/ accidents will happen and it’s just so much easier being prepared.
  4. Invest in good luggage. Trust me when I say you will be thinking of me when you are boarding your flight and your zipper breaks at the most inconvenient times.
  5. Get a nametag case for your suitcase. This will allow you to have your passport, ID, and plane ticket at an accessible place all the time. I hate it the most when people don’t have their materials ready in time and are fidgeting to look for it holding up the process.
  6. PSA ladies, DO NOT PUT YOUR FACE IN A BAG THAT’S BEING CHECKED. Things happen, let’s say your checked bag goes missing or is late you do not want to be on vacation with no makeup. It’s easy to replace clothes you can get them from literally anywhere it is harder to replace your makeup. Always travel with your makeup in your carry on.
  7. Bring a sleeping mask and sleeping pills. If you want to catch some sleep on the plane and it doesn’t get dark enough or your jet lag. These two items will make your trip comfortable.
  8. Bring your own snacks and just purchase a drink at your gate. It’s easy to make a trip to five and below or a gas station and get your favorite snacks. Food in the airport is expensive and you can save a lot of money by just packing food in your carry on.
  9. Take the red eye flights if you can. They are the absolute best; you don’t miss a vacation day and your sleep overnight anyways.
  10. If you’re able to VOLUNTEER OFTEN. They will offer the best things like a seat upgrade to a free flight. Airlines will ask for volunteers to give up their seat on a full flight or to take the exit elise. If you aren’t in any press for time or if you truly don’t mind the benefits are truly worth it.
